So instead the Pet skill will now instruct that Pet (or Pet group) to perform it's special attack on a given target or location, which then will go on a short cooldown. After that if they die, they auto summon, this means the Pet skill is no longer needed to summon. If you have a Pet skill on your bar, pressing it the first time summons that Pet(s). The player can have quite a bit of interaction if he wants to (Reap Spirit to make more Pets, Soul Harvest to buff your Pets, Curse of Frailty to debuff the enemy, Pet attack to focus down high value targets, Call of the Grave timing etc). Originally posted by DirtyMick:Because they're boring as ♥♥♥♥, so they gotta have some appeal.Īctually GD does a good job making Pet builds not boring. It all comes down to getting the gear, and the difficulty in assembling an appropriate selection of high end gear which the pet build can simply bypass since they're running in circles playing Yakkity Sax while avoiding as much damage as possible and constantly resummoning pets. That affects both your offense, and your defense, so fights take longer even if you have the damage to kill them before they kill you. Other builds may be just as strong if not stronger, but you need the gear first and there's no clear and direct path to building it unless you already have what you need before you need it. While a fully geared top tier pet build is stronger than someone with a mix of green, blue, purple, best they could kludge together that has pet stats on it, they're both able to clear content decently and take down some (many) bosses, including many that are a challenge to others. Pet builds are strong because you don't need to spend two thousand hours collecting random drops to be effective with them.
