![]() While 12 gears sounds great to me, I also keep reading that the SRAM Eagle is very susceptible & sensitive to the hanger/derailleur coming out of alignment. Differences between 5 and 7 that I care about:.Lots of up & down with mostly shorter climbs/descents.Riding area is upstate NY, between Ithaca/Binghamton.26"x2.3" tires, V-Brakes, 3x8 drivetrain: Deore rear, Alivio front, Rockshox Dart-3 Coil Fork, No dropper.I'm a relatively novice rider, I've been riding for ~10 years but never seriously or consistently. They are probably way more than anyone wants to read, so I highlighted the more important bits. I've include my many notes below, for clarification on what I'm thinking. This thread has some related info: Sram Eagle 1x12 - īasically, I'd prefer the less fancy, more reliable Deore 1x10 if the sensitivity of the Eagle 1x12 derailleur is not overblown. I have some concerns about the amount of maintenance the NX Eagle 1x12 drivetrain on the 7 will need though. Normally, this would just be a "are the upgrades worth the price" question, and the answer would be more or less "spend the extra money if you can afford it".
